What I particularly love about Debbie Ringle's series is the amount of emotion captured. Too often I feel that what is wrong with the world is how no one expresses what they feel. By constantly holding it inside, when they are sad, they do not cry. They might be happy, but they do not sing or dance. Maybe they are angry, but they do not scream. Society has taught us that if we do, we must feel ashamed, which is the absolute worst feeling in the world. As a result, everyone walks with their heads down and no one sees how beautiful the sky is. There is so much in this world to celebrate. I believe we should cheer for people and express how we feel to each other. I was raised to believe that there is enough sun for everyone to shine in.
The natural lighting is absolutely stunning, along with the rich composition of each photograph. I genuinely hope to see more from Debbie because this series is particularly impressive. Scroll down to hear from her!
From the Photographer | I am located in Fredericksburg VA and focus primarily on Empowerment Sessions. Women of various demographics get dressed up or (down) and together we work to eliminate those insecurities. I have always been in love with mermaids like many other girls and the mysteries and fairytales that come along with them. I didn’t want the session to be too “costumy” and chose outfits that my imagination screamed “river princess/mermaid”. My model was so great at following my lead and moving in the direction she felt right. Many times she just moved her arms around as if she was coming up from the river as a mermaid.
